[ Hometown: ] Farm outside of Tulip
[ History: ]          TW: Homophobia
In the wee hours of one morning in late spring, Sadie-Mae Magnolia Cloverfield was born. Sadie-Mae and her brother Austin were the sixth and seventh children, and the last, to be born to her mother Willow and father Vernon. Born into a large farming family, most of her peers were extended family. In fact, a surprising percentage of Tulip were related to her. Sadie-Mae herself was a freemartin, born female but infertile and with a smaller udder than normal. Her parents were well aware; freemartins were the usual result of twins of mixed sexes. They accepted the fact that she wasn't 100% female.
Austin had been born a normal male, but he saw nothing wrong with his sister. In fact, they were inseparable; they did their chores together, explored the family's land, and confided in each other. Life on the farm was slow and simple, but Sadie-Mae wanted nothing more. When she began attending school, she kept to herself. She and her brother did their schoolwork and left for home as soon as possible. Although they knew most of the others at school, none of them were really friends.
As she got older, Sadie-Mae began to realize that she didn't just like boys. In fact, she liked girls better. Thinking her parents would understand, she came out to her family. The result was a total disaster. Being a religious family, they thought she was going against God. They told her that she was confused. It was a phase. They would not have a homosexual daughter.
Austin, on the other hand, saw no problem with her liking boys and girls. He accepted that she had no control over that, and while she told her parents she had been mistaken, Austin was always there to listen.
She soon had her first relationship, relieving her parents with a boy from her school. Two weeks into the relationship, he confessed that he was asexual. Sadie-Mae was shocked. She has never felt sexual attracted to anyone; She didn't know others ever did. She told him she was asexual as well. A few months later, she found herself feeling suddenly sexually attracted to him. She said nothing, knowing he didn't return the feeling.
Meanwhile, word was getting out that she wasn't completely straight. Her boyfriend dumped her, not wanted to "catch her gay." She was heartbroken and found harassment at every turn. Her entire family faced prejudice, and they slowly distanced themselves from her. Once again, she found only Austin sticking up for her. They stuck even closer together than before, and often found themselves cornered in fist fights. They were both heavy set and large for their age, and won most of the time. Others soon grew reluctant to pick on them in front of their faces, but they continued to talk about her and Austin behind their backs.
They muddled through school, graduating with fairly good grades. Returning home to work on their family's farm, they they found their family was still giving them the cold shoulder. Together, they moved into a separate house on the other side of the fields form their parents. For almost a year, they lived comfortably, working the farm, and weren't bothered by their parents or anyone they had previously gone to school with. Then the announcement was sent out that some people would be leaving with government staff.
Sadie-Mae and Austin had no desire to leave. They had each other. They had the farm. Their family was even starting to warm up to them. Soon, however, they found officers at their door trying to take Sadie-Mae away. Realizing she had no choice, Austin volunteered to come with her. They refused to let him come, but tried to assure him she would be safe. Reluctantly, she packed a small bag and said a tearful goodbye to her brother.
She soon found herself on a train heading nowhere, packed in with a bunch of strangers. Frightened, she spoke to no one. She sat by the window watching the trees go by, mostly.
When the option was given to revolt or stay, she voted to stay. She was angry she had been pried from her brother, but she didn't think the guards were going to hurt them, wherever they were going.
When the train arrived in Highholt, she was almost relieved. Yes, it was old and decrepit, and the guards were lousy, but the quiet fields and forests reminded her of home. She found a small shack a slightly isolated form the rest, and began to fix it up. She was sorted into the tillers, and worked to the best she could. She was accustomed to working the fields and, while she came home exhausted every day, she found no difficulties learning the routine. She dug up flowers and replanted them near her home. There was an uncomfortable air around everyone after the fighting during sorting, but there had been no more major problems for the most part. She settled in and tried to avoid trouble.

[ Roleplay Example: ] From Threefold-Kingdoms (fairly old sample, but gives you a good idea)
Augustine stormed over to them as soon as the scrawny cat was on the ground. His head was practically steaming, and his fists were clenched into balls. "Hey!" He barked, approaching them, "What's going on here?!" He glared at the large dog, recognizing him as being part of a group that had caused trouble in the market a week before." He turned to one of them, who was holding an apple. "Return that at once!" The cat opened his mouth to answer, but the dog interrupted. "Who's making us, weasel?" He taunted. Gus looked at him with disgust. "I am not a weasel, I am a mongoose," He said firmly. "And I don't think your mother would be very happy if you came home in shackles," He put his hand on his sword. The dog looked at him angrily, but turned to the others. "Fine. Give him the stupid apple." The dark cat reluctantly handed it over, and Gus snatched it from his hand. "Thank you." He said briskly, "And I'd better not see you doing this again!" He called out to them as they walked away indignantly. His gaze softened as he turned to the small cat, who was still on the ground. "Are you alright?" He said, holding out a hand to help him up.
